How to Get from Bergamo Airport to Milan

Comparing all options, prices, and travel times. Choose the most convenient option for your trip.

Bergamo Airport (Orio al Serio, code BGY) is a hub for low-cost airlines, so many tourists arrive in Milan here, even though the airport technically belongs to the city of Bergamo. It is about 50 km from the center of Milan. Let's break down how to get there, how much it costs, and which option is most convenient for your situation.

Where is Bergamo Located and How Long Does It Take to Get to Milan

The airport is located northeast of Milan, approximately 50 km away. By car, the trip to the center takes about 45-60 minutes depending on traffic. Many low-cost flights arrive late at night, and this is an important factor when choosing transportation — public transport does not operate 24/7.

Transportation: What to Choose?

Shuttle Bus

The main public transport method. Several companies transport passengers directly from the terminal to Milano Centrale station. A ticket costs around €10-16, and the journey takes about 50-60 minutes.

Pros
Inexpensive, direct route to the central station, frequent departures.
Cons
Travel time depends on traffic, drop-off is only at the station, limited luggage space.
Train

There is no direct train from the terminal itself — first, you need to get to Bergamo railway station, and from there take a train to Milan.

Pros
Independent of highway traffic jams.
Cons
Requires a transfer, making it longer and less convenient, especially with suitcases.
Taxi

A taxi to Milan will cost approximately from €110 per car. Unlike Malpensa, there is no fixed municipal fare here; the final cost depends on the meter.

Pros
Direct door-to-door service without transfers.
Cons
Price is not fixed in advance, queues at the taxi stand, potential language barrier.
Private Transfer

The most convenient option, especially for a late flight. An IDtransfero driver meets you with a name sign in the arrivals area and takes you directly to the door of your hotel or apartment.

Why it's beneficial:
  • Fixed price (known in advance)
  • Meet & greet with a personalized name sign
  • Free waiting time for flight delays (up to 60 minutes)
  • Ideal for evening flights, large groups, and passengers with luggage
